The South Orpington Learning Alliance (SOLA) Multi-Academy Trust of 7 primary schools located in Bromley and Croydon, is looking to recruit new Trustees to the Board of Trustees.

The Trust Board works closely with the Senior Executive Leaders of SOLA. Senior executive leaders are responsible for day-to-day operational management of the Trust and its schools, whereas the role of the Board is strategic. Trustees work together to fulfil the purpose of the Trust Board, to:

  • provide strategic leadership defining the Vision, fostering the Trust’s culture and setting the strategy;
  • provide accountability and assurance, robust and effective oversight of Trust operations and performance;
  • strategically oversee relationships with stakeholders ensuring decision-making is supported by meaningful engagement.

We would warmly welcome a discussion with anyone who is incentivised to build upon existing leadership skills and knowledge to play this strategic role. In particular, we’re looking to expand upon the Board’s existing educational and financial management skill sets. If you have experience of working successfully with leaders to establish expectations for school improvement, we would love to hear from you. Equally, if you have experience in financial planning, budgeting and monitoring in an organisation exceeding an annual income of £10 million.

You are likely to come from a professional background, playing a role as a successful, inspiring and collaborative leader. You may have governance experience and you will be a strategic thinker.

This role is voluntary but enormously rewarding. The Board meets six times a year (usually in the evening) and we encourage meaningful engagement with all stakeholders to build trust and shared ownership.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity or would like a full role description, please contact the Chief Operating Officer, Nicola Diamond at Nicola.Diamond@solamat.co.uk. We would be delighted to support any dialogues or visits that would prove supportive,  and will be looking to close out applications by 30th November 2023.
